Statement from Jake Ward, Application Developers Alliance President on New Safe Harbor Agreement

Washington, D.C. (February 2, 2016) – The following is a statement from Jake Ward, Application Developers Alliance President regarding the political agreement governing the transfer of date between the European Union and the United States.

“Today’s agreement between the U.S and European Union is a great relief to companies on both sides of the Atlantic. It provides comfort to tens of thousands of small businesses and strengthens trust in the system and policymakers.

“The importance of this political agreement cannot be overstated: in the digital world every company depends on data to best serve their customers: customers that live and work across the globe. Had this agreement not been reached, companies would potentially face a fractured web of regulations across the European Union and disruptive, harmful uncertainty.

“On behalf of developers worldwide, we thank the negotiators and we hope the agreement brings on the creation of a transatlantic data flow framework able to support and foster a new age of international cooperation and commerce.”
