Mobile is Everything: Let’s Talk About It

Lanyards and name tags. Swags bags and pamphlets. Business cards and exhibitor booths. Ladies and gents, it’s conference season. And my personal favorite is fast approaching: GSMA’s Mobile World Congress.

SWAG

Mobile World Congress (MWC) brings together industry professionals from around the world, including wireless carriers, device manufacturers, technology service providers and vendors. Hosted in Barcelona, Spain, it’s a week of controlled chaos: attending panels, extending your brand, and most importantly, networking, networking, networking.

In its inaugural year (2009), GSMA commented on their attendance: “The four-day conference and exhibition attracted executives from the world’s largest and most influential mobile operators, software companies, equipment providers, Internet companies and media and entertainment organisations, as well as government delegations.”

Since then, the word “mobile” has expanded its definition and is now directly relevant to even non-traditional tech industries, such as transportation/auto, financial/banking, and healthcare/fitness. Technology is a catalyst for setting universal expectations that our lives can be efficient, effortless, and most importantly, digital. With these expectations, it’s a critical opportunity for companies – no matter the industry – to start understanding, discussing, and implementing mobile into their business strategies. Mobile is everything and everywhere.

The Apps Alliance has been attending MWC since 2013. It was obvious to us that this unique aggregation of thought leaders, industry influencers, and mobile innovators need to network outside of their immediate circles so they can learn from each other; it’s vital to discuss the digital opportunities and challenges within their market segment, and hopefully, form a partnership together to create better products and experiences. So how can we we get everyone together and talking? By throwing a good ol’ fashion party.

During MWC 2016, we are hosting three events: Welcoming Party, Mobile Apps Party and Mobile Marketing Party.

Welcoming Party

Welcoming Party

In partnership with CTIA, the Welcoming Party is a gathering of members and friends to kick off the busy week. We’ll have tapas, cocktails, and on-site masseuses to give 5-minute chair massages to help shake off the jet lag.

Mobile Apps Party

The Mobile Apps Party is a night to celebrate all things apps. Hosted at the W Hotel, we’re anticipating over 1,200 people in attendance. The night will include food, drinks, light jugglers and stilt walkers! If that wasn’t enough, the room will be divided into categories and include more entertainment and surprises:

  • VIDEO hosted by Chocolate (Vdopia): With the launch of Chocolate, the first ever mobile video-only programmatic platform, stop by to see a demo and enjoy a sweet treat the chocolate fountain.
  • ENTERTAINMENT hosted by AppLift: Unwind and jam out to music from the DJ, and then enjoy the show from the Video DJ featuring some of AppLift’s top partners.
  • MEDIA hosted by Meme Global: Meme Global helps you to manage and monetize media, so stop by to hear more about their solutions and then snap a picture or two with friends and colleagues in the photo booth.
  • CLOUD hosted by Ericsson and Intel: With their launch of Ericsson HDS 8000, the new generation of hyperscale datacenter systems that uses Intel® Rack Scale Architecture, see how your company should be thinking about the cloud and then grab some fluffy cotton candy made fresh on-site.
  • GAMES hosted by Amazon Appstore: Check out how you can reach millions of users through the Amazon Appstore. And while you’re there, play a game of Fussball or test your balancing skills by playing giant jenga.
