The App Strategy Workshop in Paris took place on 28 April. Returning to the beautiful Microsoft Conference Center, the event was jam-packed with around 230 attendees. On 24 March, the App Alliance kicked off the 2016 Paris Meetup Series with a focus on Mobile FinTech Apps. The event included a panel with experts from FinTech companies including Nicolas Martin, CPO at Bankin’, Antoine Porte, Co-Fonder and CTO at Lydia, Hugo Bailey, Product Manager at Mangopay and Jehan de Castet, Founder and CEO, Fluo. In ancient Rome, the Empire asked its bridge builders to stand under the bridges they built as the First Legion of the Roman Army marched overhead. Recently Apps Alliance President, Jon Potter, testified in Congress, opposing FBI and NSA requests that apps and mobile devices provide encryption “Back Doors” for them to circumvent privacy-protection technologies. Today, the Alliance sent a letter to Congress reinforcing our support of privacy and consumer trust, and opposing a new proposal that would require all digital businesses to permanently retain consumer data in case law enforcement should ever want to review it.
The Application Developers Alliance partnered with Unified Patents to bring free protection from patent trolls to companies with less than $20 million in annual revenue.
From Connecticut to California, a dozen entrepreneurs from across the country gathered in Washington, DC, last week with a single goal in mind: patent reform. Armed with their own stories and experiences, they joined the Apps Alliance team for a day-long mission to urge Congress to pass comprehensive patent reform.
