Are We A Nation of Data Hoarders and Peepers?

Recently Apps Alliance President, Jon Potter, testified in Congress, opposing FBI and NSA requests that apps and mobile devices provide encryption “Back Doors” for them to circumvent privacy-protection technologies.  Today, the Alliance sent a letter to Congress reinforcing our support of privacy and consumer trust, and opposing a new proposal that would require all digital businesses to permanently retain consumer data in case law enforcement should ever want to review it.

Developing for Good: Kids Who Code

App Developers Alliance Grows in Europe – Appoints Sophie Mestchersky, as a Director to Lead European Policy & Government Affairs

Washington D.C.  – The Application Developers Alliance, a global membership organization that supports app developers and promotes the app industry, announced today that Sophie Mestchersky will lead the Alliance’s European policy and government affairs activity. Alliance membership includes more than 175 companies and 35,000 developers globally, including more than 8,000 developers in Europe. The Alliance European Board includes executives from Ericsson (Stockholm), Applift (Berlin), Smaato (Hamburg) and Outfit7 (Ljubljana).

Law Students in Apps Alliance Program Scare Away Patent Trolls, Help Startup Continue to Innovate

Software patent litigation can cost companies millions of dollars that could otherwise be used for hiring new employees, creating new services and products, and ultimately helping grow the U.S. economy.  

Due to help from the Brooklyn Law Incubator and Policy (BLIP) Clinic, a participating school in The Law School Patent Troll Defense Network administered by the Application Developers Alliance, 911 Notify dropped the lawsuit.
