(January 11, 2016) – The Application Developers Alliance announced today that Mark Drapeau, Senior Director of Membership for North America and Stephen Spiker, Director of Research and Insights, have joined the organization’s Washington, D.C. staff. Brussels (9 December, 2015) – Catriona Meehan, Application Developers Alliance EU Policy Director released an official statement regarding the European Commission’s proposal for a unified set of contract rules to make buying and selling digital content and tangible goods easier online and its impact on developers.
On Wednesday, 2 December, the Apps Alliance, with EU40, organised an interactive workshop in the European Parliament, hosted by Philippe de Backer MEP (ALDE, ITRE Committee).
The speakers and audience discussed the impact ICT and mobile technology has on the lives of people with disabilities. The main focus of the debate was the huge potential of apps dedicated to solving cognitive, motorial language, visual and auditory difficulties.

On Tuesday, 17 November, the Apps Alliance hosted its second European Parliament Round Table discussion with Heinz K. Becker MEP. The event focussed on the recent Safe Harbour ruling and its ‘Impact on SMEs and Digital Startups’. SMEs and startups represent more than 60% of companies that participated in the Safe Harbour agreement and they will be most heavily affected by its invalidation.
We couldn’t have been happier concluding the 2015 App Strategy workshop series with 115 attendees in New York City. It’s been an incredible year to meet with developers and entrepreneurs across the world, learning about the challenges they face and connecting them with experts in the industry.
