Startups and Small Businesses Need Meaningful Patent Reform Now

Washington, D.C. (May 21, 2014) – Today the App Developers Alliance expressed disappointment in the Senate Judiciary Committee removing patent reform from its schedule.

“The debate over the existence of patent trolls and the threat they present to the economy ended months ago—they are real, they are bullying small businesses, and now they are celebrating,” said Jon Potter, President of the App Developers Alliance. “Today, incumbent interests and patent trolls defeated America’s entrepreneurs and job creators.”

“Startups and small businesses are abused daily by patent troll extortion. The App Developers Alliance will continue to work on behalf of our members, and with dozens of industry associations and Members of Congress, to promote meaningful, comprehensive anti-troll legislation,” Potter concluded.
