Developers Alliance Reacts to Blumenthal Announcing Reintroduction of Open App Markets Act

Washington, DC (April 1, 2025): Developers Alliance Board Chair Jake Ward today responded to Senator Richard Blumenthal’s (D-Conn.) announcement that he plans to reintroduce the Open App Markets Act. He made the announcement during today’s Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy, and Consumer Rights hearing.

“Sen. Blumenthal appears not to have learned anything about the app ecosystem or the global digital economy. Another Congress, another bad bill.

“The Open App Markets Act fails to understand the app economy as it exists today and the benefits it brings to both consumers and developers.

“Instead of reintroducing a bill that has been repeatedly rejected as bad policy and politics, I encourage lawmakers to craft legislation that drives innovation and helps the American tech sector compete globally.”
