Developers Alliance Joins With Industry To Support CHANCE In Tech Act

The organizations strongly urge the Senate to pass the act during the current Congress.

Washington D.C., July 6th, 2021 – The Developers Alliance has joined with seven other leading technology organizations to indicate their strong support of S. 2227, the Championing Apprenticeships for New Careers and Employees in Technology (CHANCE in Tech) Act. The organizations sent a joint letter to Senate Majority Leader Schumer and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell.

In their letter, the organizations note the dire need for training and education to produce skilled workers, a crucial resource for America’s digital economy and continued innovation.

The CHANCE in Tech Act would help shrink the skills gap by revitalizing the registered apprenticeship program and providing students and workers with the hands-on, experiential learning needed to compete in today’s economy. It is for these reasons that we support S. 2227 and urge Senate to pass this critical legislation during the 117th Congress.

The signed organizations include:

  • Developers Alliance

  • ACT | The App Association

  • BSA | The Software Alliance CompTIA

  • Engine

  • Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) Internet Association

  • Security Industry Association (SIA)

  • SEMI

  • TechNet

  • Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA)

Developers and the roles that support them are the backbones of a thriving 21st-century economy. Technology apprenticeships allow for hands-on learning that creates a strong middle class and can help fill the skills gap (as well as can help re-skill) many workers for the jobs of America’s future,” stated Sarah Richard, Policy Counsel & Head of US Policy. “We fully support the Department of Labor and Congress’s efforts to build up this necessary workforce to ensure developer-led companies have the workers they need to grow and thrive.
