Developers Alliance Feedback On The European Commission’s General Product Safety Directive – Review

Developers Alliance appreciates the opportunity to provide input to the consultation on the proposal for a Regulation on general product safety. Our comments are strictly limited to aspects related to software development, and on the correlation with other relevant EU legislation and legislative proposals. We welcome the choice for a regulation, which guarantees a uniform approach across the EU Single Market, as well the necessary alignment to the New Legislative Framework (NLF).

We reiterate our disagreement with the presumption that software in general, and AI in particular, are always a potential source of ‘high-risk’, as stated in our positions on the proposals for the AI Act and the revision of the Machinery Directive.
