Members of the Application Developers Alliance sent a clear message to Congress: App developers are innovators, and they support the Innovation Act. In the message to House members, seven Alliance members explained why startups and small business innovators need strong patent reform, refuting the argument that small inventors oppose the Innovation Act.
U.S. government-hosted talks on mobile app privacy concluded when leading consumer privacy advocates and mobile app industry stakeholders joined in support for a voluntary model for how apps communicate what information about consumers the apps are collecting and with what types of third parties, if any, that consumers’ data is shared.

Washington, D.C.(September 19, 2012) – Today, two Application Developers Alliance members briefed consumer privacy advocates about how mobile apps work. Michael Mayernick, co-founder of Spinnakr, and Tom Chernaik, CEO of CMP.LY, participated in the “Apps 101” session, held as part of the ongoing multi-stakeholder meetings on mobile app privacy at the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). The session focused on the specifics of mobile app development, including business models, app monetization, and innovative ways apps are protecting consumer privacy.
Washington, D.C. (May 22, 2012) – The Application Developers Alliance announced today that it will kick off an 18 city App Developer Privacy Summit Series on June 4, 2012 in Austin, Tex. The series will feature panel discussions and topical roundtables to help app developers better understand the changing app privacy landscape and will give developers a voice in the ongoing dialogue.
