Senate Hearing Advances Understanding of Connected Devices
Washington, D.C. – The Application Developers Alliance praised the Senate Commerce Committee and Chairman Thune (R-SD) for focusing today’s hearing on the extraordinary opportunities associated with connected devices and services known as the Internet or Things.
“In Washington, the Internet of Things is an ill-defined buzzword,” said Apps Alliance President Jon Potter. “In the app industry, computing power is more efficient and sensors are more accurate, and the Internet of Things is already happening. Alliance members like Intel, MasterCard, Google and Ford are already delivering better offerings utilizing connectivity and real-time data.
“The integration of sensors into farms, factories and mass transit improve safety, efficiency, sustainability,” Potter continued. “We appreciate the Committee’s leadership on the policy questions that IoT raises.”
The Application Developers Alliance recently released a series of Whitepapers on the Internet of Things, including wearable and automotive technologies. Future papers will discuss retail, smart homes, and manufacturing.
