Washington, D.C. (August 23, 2012) – Today, Application Developers Alliance President Jon Potter released the following statement regarding the FBI’s shutdown of websites offering pirated apps:
“Theft is theft—and the FBI’s efforts to protect app entrepreneurs from having their creativity stolen is good news for developers and the app economy,” said Potter.
“App piracy can discourage talented developers, entrepreneurs and investors from entering the marketplace, and can threaten consumer confidence when counterfeit apps don’t provide upgrades or respect consumer privacy. On behalf of our thousands of members, the Alliance welcomes law enforcement engagement and we look forward to promoting enforcement when developers’ livelihoods – and innovation – are threatened.”
