Washington, D.C. (June 15, 2012) – Today, the Application Developers Alliance, the leading association representing nearly 7,000 developers and more than 70 companies, released the following statement in response to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s (NTIA’s) announcement of stakeholder talks on mobile app privacy:
“App developers look forward to the positive discussions among mobile app privacy stakeholders that will be convened by NTIA. We are confident that all stakeholders—platforms, carriers, developers, and consumers—recognize the collaborative effort that is required to achieve privacy that pleases consumers.
“App developers know it is important to get app privacy right and to get it right quickly,” said Alliance President Jon Potter. “That’s one reason why thousands of developers have joined the Alliance and hundreds of developers are participating in the Alliance Privacy Summit Series, which is convening privacy experts and app developers together in several cities nationwide this summer.”
The Alliance looks forward to reporting to NTIA and fellow industries on developers’ commitments to consumers, beginning at the first stakeholder meeting on July 12.
