App Developers Alliance Applauds Leahy-Lee Patent Reform Bill for Protecting Innovators

Washington, D.C. (November 18, 2013) – The Application Developers Alliance today praised Senators Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and Mike Lee (R-UT) for introducing patent reform legislation that will protect startups and small businesses.

“Startups and small businesses—without millions in the bank—are the most vulnerable to patent trolls wielding bad patents and have the least resources to fight back. These entrepreneurs, who are driving innovation in cities and towns across the U.S., badly need reforms that give them a fighting chance, including ending abusive demand letters,” said Jon Potter, President of the App Developers Alliance.

“We’re pleased that the patent reform legislation introduced by Chairman Leahy and Senator Lee takes startups and small businesses into consideration. The effort to prohibit abusive demand letters is a major step toward protecting innovators at startups and Main Street businesses nationwide.”
