Earlier this month saw the App Developers Alliance launch the first of our App Strategy Workshop series in Europe, following a great response to the same series across the United States. Telecom ParisTech, one of France’s leading technical institutes, hosted more than 100 attendees from across the industry to discuss UX and app monetisation.
Moderated by Virginie Cleve, founder of Largow and former COO of Radio France, the UX panel brought together speakers from SoundCloud, La Company, Bla Bla Car and leading French media group Le Monde. One of the key takeaways, as highlighted by Cleve, is the ineffectiveness of using splash screens. The panel agreed that while they should be used for technical difficulties, they should be avoided in the main design at all cost.
SmartAppli, Appsfire, Applift, Ubisoft and MobFox took to the stage for the afternoon’s second panel to discuss monetisation, and increasing RPU. Applift’s Thomas Sommer made it clear that the games industry has led the way on app monetisation, and that there is a lot to learn from this vertical.
The day ended with Mohamed Ben Hiba of Smaato sharing their experiences with real time bidding, outlining the huge growth that is is seeing and the rapid take-up by both app developers, brands and agencies.
Following the successful event in Paris, the App Developers Alliance are looking forward to the next event in Europe, taking place in Berlin on October 23rd. Take a look here for further information: App Strategy Workshop: Berlin
