Los Angeles, Calif. (September 4, 2012) – Variety and the Application Developers Alliance are teaming up to present this year’s Entertainment Apps Conference on November 29 at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Los Angeles. Following the daylong conference will be the first annual Entertainment Apps Awards, celebrating the most influential apps in the world of entertainment and the teams behind them.
The conference brings together top digital distribution and marketing executives from the major studios and networks, CE and set-top box makers, technology and platform providers, and developers and content creators for a day of panel discussions, programming, and networking. The focus will be how content creators and distributors are using apps to enhance audience engagement, create new revenue opportunities, extend entertainment franchises, and leverage new platforms.
The Entertainment Apps Awards will reward developers and publishers of the best apps in categories like Best Second Screen TV App, Best App Supporting a Film Launch, Best Social Discovery App, and Best Entertainment App of the Year. The awards will be presented at a dinner following the conference.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Variety for the Entertainment Apps Conference and Awards. The apps industry is thriving with nearly half of the nation’s online population using mobile apps and millions of apps in the hands of consumers. The conference and awards ceremony are great opportunities to showcase innovation in the entertainment industry and give talented developers new resources to further their work,” said Alliance President Jon Potter.
