Developer Read: A Developer’s Perspective on GDPR

We wanted to share an interesting perspective on European Regulation, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), from a Brian Soltis, posted in Hackernoon. GDPR is meant to protect users’ information in the digital space, and the amount of information people share online has created a wellspring of data. Not in Europe? This regulation still applies to you if you have information from European users.

This regulation is especially important for developers to know thoroughly because it influences how you build and update software applications and what functionalities you must provide users. As the author points out, GDPR centers around data — what’s collected, how it’s collected, how and where it’s stored, where it’s shared, and so on.

We encourage you to read his perspective and recommendations on preparing for the GDPR: https://hackernoon.com/im-a-developer-and-general-data-protection-regulation-gdpr-is-no-big-deal-or-is-it-2f2b7b3f124
