Proposal agreement is good news, especially for smaller developers.
The Developers Alliance is pleased to hear of Apple’s proposed App Store changes in support of small developers.
We have always maintained that the best outcome for the developer community would come through direct negotiation between the parties, and not through government intervention. While we’d prefer that developer business partners would engage our community proactively, we’re optimistic that this week’s announcement indicates that developer voices are being heard and that Apple and others are listening and are open to addressing developer concerns.
In contrast to other legal battles targeting Apple, the plaintiffs, in this case, have sought changes that will benefit millions of small developers and not just a few large developer corporations. We disagree with those voices that place their own greed above the well-being of the developer community,
We congratulate the parties on their hard work, thank them for a proposal that benefits all developers equally, and encourage the court to swiftly approve the proposed settlement.
