For the second consecutive week, the Apps Alliance concentrated its presence in San Francisco with the goal of engaging members and area app industry professionals. Encouraged by the momentum from the previous week’s successful Happy Hour with AppsFlyer and App Strategy Workshop, we attended AppsWorld North America at Moscone Center West. AppsWorld, a gathering of over 10,000 app industry professionals, highlights the trends, challenges, and opportunities in today’s mobile app ecosystem.

We took AppsWorld as an occasion to gather insights and advice for our developer community while also convening and connecting our growing network of companies and individuals. Apps Alliance President Jon Potter served as Chair of the Developer World track, “where developers come to learn about fundamental aspects of their business; how to make apps that work, apps that are successful, downloaded, used and reach their goals.” We also rounded out our week with an Appy Hour co-hosted with Apptentive and AppLift.

As an organization dedicated to the support of developers, it only makes sense that the Apps Alliance has direct participation in AppsWorld’s Developer World track. As Chair of Developer World, Apps Alliance President Jon Potter set the tone for the panels to come throughout the day. “It’s never been more important for developers to have all of the tools and resources available to be as innovative as possible and build not only great apps, but sustainable businesses around them,” he noted in his opening remarks. After inviting attendees to join our developer network, he offered the audience an exclusive look into the results of our recent Developer Insights Survey.

Potter also served as moderator on panels throughout the day. Joined by Chris Cunningham of IronSource, Ryan Ozonian of Cyber Dust, and Andrew Maltin of Hangwith for the Creating a Successful App Business panel, Potter facilitated a lively exploration of launch processes, app idea viability, and investments. During the Opportunity for Developers and Wearable Devices panel, Potter was joined by Amy Puliafito of Misfit Wearables, Monisha Perkash of LUMO Body Tech, Josh Shaeffer of Runtastic, and Philip Lew of XBOSoft for a conversation about leveraging user experience, platform trends, and usable data.

What an inspirational end to an empowering day! We partnered with Apps Alliance members Apptentive and AppLift to provide a continued celebration of the mobile app industry. With the help of several heat lamps, tacos, and an open-bar, over 150 industry leaders and experts gathered on the rooftop at Galvanize in downtown San Francisco to discuss AppsWorld, native advertising trends, and the future of mobile. Check out the Appy Hour Facebook album to see our favorite moments of the night!
